After having a talk with a friend, And receiving the response “Oh, she’s amazing—she’s like this little old woman trapped in a baby’s body”, David Lindsay-Abaire thought "what a great idea for a Theate".
Kimberly Akimbo is a musical that presented Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club New York City on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, often celebrated for his ablity for bonding humor and hard reality.
The story took place in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a teenager called Kimberly was born with a disorder that made her age four and a half times than she actually is. Struggling with a terrifying reality to experience mortality and adolescence at the same time.
Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is struggling with, Kimberly is rarely the center of attention in her life, in fact, you will see her nobly consumed by her family’s recklessly, which places her in various emotional pressures including psychological strain, financial troubles, isolation, and the need for belongingness. Despite this, Kimberly demonstrates great resilience, empathy, determination, courage, and above all high spirits.
