Origins

Kimberly is a Teen trapped in a 72-year-old elderly lady, and a teen that has decided to live every day as if its the last. Following having a talk with a friend, And getting the response “she’s amazing—she’s like this little old woman trapped in a baby’s body”, David Lindsay-Abaire thought "what a great idea for a Theate".

Kimberly Akimbo is a show that premiered Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club New York City on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, often celebrated for his ablity for marrying humor and harsh reality.

Story

The tale begins in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a teen called Kimberly struggling with a condition that made her age four and a half times than she actually is. Put in an difficult reality to experience mortality and adolescence at the same time.

Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is facing, Kimberly is rarely the center of attention in her life, in fact, you will see her nobly consumed by her family’s recklessly, which puts her in various emotional pressures including psychological strain, financial troubles, social isolation, and the need for belongingness. Highlighting her resilience, empathy, determination, courage, and above all high spirits.
